What’s Going On

Northshore School District is reviewing School Boundaries due to low birth rates leaving
some schools overcrowded while others have low enrollment. The District redraws boundaries
every 10 years, and it is now time to balance the enrollment in all schools. Possible outcomes
include boundary changes, school repurposing, or closures; but no decisions have been made for
Kenmore schools.

EDAC (Enrollment Demographic is comprised of parents, staff, and community
members. (EDAC) is developing options, with scenarios going public October. 26th. Community
engagement Open houses will run November 2026 through January 2027.

  • EDAC will refine it’s recommendation January- February
  • The School Board will decide a Final Decision on March 8th, 2027
  • All Changes will take effect in September 2028.

Then the district’s community engagement window runs November 2026–January 2027. EDAC refines
its recommendation in January–February, and the Board decides March 8, 2027

Feedback:

EDAC** (Enrollment Demographics Advisory Committee). EDAC develops the options, but the
School Board makes the final decision — March 8, 2027. So every message has two audiences:

The decision-makers

● All five directors at once:
schoolboard@nsd.org

● All 5 directors vote, so all 5 should be aware of our feedback

  1. Elisabeth Sotak, District 2, Board Vice President** — sbdistrict2@nsd.org. She’s
Arrowhead’s director(: Arrowhead, Kenmore Elementary, Kenmore Middle, Lockwood,
and Moorlands are all in her director district, and she’s the Board’s liaison to the City of
    Kenmore)
  2. Sandy Hayes, District 4, Board President** — sbdistrict4@nsd.org. Northshore Middle
School and Woodmoor are in her district — she owns the other half of the split
  3. Hân Trần, District 3** — sbdistrict3@nsd.org — she’s the Board’s liaison to the
    Northshore PTSA Council
  4. Carson Sanderson, District 1 — sbdistrict1@nsd.org,
  5. Dr. Robert Weir, District 5 — sbdistrict5@nsd.org

● Dr. Justin Irish, Superintendent** — superintendent@nsd.org — his staff work with EDAC on the
options before the Board sees them
● Peggy King, Board Recording Secretary** — pking2@nsd.org, 425-408-7701 — send her the
written version so it’s in the Board’s record
EDAC itself

EDAC itself (now, while scenarios are being built AND the Board all the way through)

● EDAC has no public email inbox. The district’s official route is the “feedback form” on the Enrollment and Boundaries page
● The District states that input submitted there helps EDAC develop the plan, and it’s
open September 2026 through March 2027. Every family should submit there in addition
to emailing, not instead of.
-EDAC’s 14 members include a representative from each high school feeder pattern, including
Inglemoor’s, and its meetings are open to the public as observers

● communications@nsd.org** — this is also where your still-open district presentation request
goes; a room full of Arrowhead families hearing the district out, then speaking with one voice, is
powerful
